The dates of deaths

actually vary considerably, by up to a month. That's because of system reporting, and next of kin delays. Thus the figures could well be skewed by 2 bank holidays in 3 weeks and therefore as a day to day measure they aren't too reliable. As stated earlier, a running average over a week is a better guide.
