I don't think it is. It makes a decent cup, but think the cafetiere is marginally better

Particularly if you make more than one cup. How can a cup¡s worth of water be enough to properly steep 2 or ore cups' worth of coffee? It's exactly the same principal anyway

Stovetop italian job for expresso, cafetiere for everything else. Fucked if I'd spend 100 quid or more on a machine to do what I can do just as well for 15 quid
