There are too many outsiders trying to control the outcome here
The Government want to use the Premier League as its flagship “we’ve found a way to start to get things back to normal” programme and sod the views of the clubs or more importantly the real supporters (i.e. not the ones who sit in armchairs).
The FA want games completed as it is a cash cow in terms of increasing the profile/influence of English Football throughout the World
The EFL know that without the premier league they are basically stuffed - their TV deal will fold as will many of the lower league clubs hence their pressure for relegation.
Meanwhile people are dying, the R rate will naturally increase this weekend as, even with social distancing there will be a greater risk of spread across gardens and people deciding for themselves what the new relaxed rules will be.
The decision should be that of the premier league alone. If playing behind closed doors is normally a punishment there can be no argument that it is the best way of restarting the season and if the rest of us are still social distancing then no-one should be breaking these rules - especially purely for avaricious reasons.
