Of course. The average male needs about 2,500
calories a day. Generally, if you eat less than this, no matter what you eat, you will lose weight.
Your body also needs certain minerals, vitamins etc, so even if you are getting enough calories, only eating one source of calories is not a good idea. 1,500 calories of a balanced diet is clearly better for you than 1,500 calories of chocolate bars, even though both diets should result in a similar weight loss (at least in short term).
