The broadcasters are going to sue for unplayed games

so they've got to play the game of making every reasonable effort and even some unreasonable ones to get the season finished so that when they - inevitably and obviously - void it they might get a few quid off.

In a reasonable world the broadcasters would be saying, we get it, not your fault, we do need some money back but let's split it somehow and over time so we cover our costs and your business model remains sustainable, yada yada.
