I have no idea but I do find looking at those NHS stats slightly less alarming than

seeing the numbers jump up and down from 400 to 850 like they do with the daily Dept for Health announcement.

Of course it all adds up to the same amount of tragic loss of life and we are nowhere near the end of it but seeing that actually the daily numbers in England have been pretty constant for a few days now and are in fact a little lower than they were for 2 days at the end of March seems to me to be grounds for the slightest bit of optimism.
