It will be a huge breakthrough if/when they can work out whether there are any
common denominators between those who react badly and suffer the severe form of this virus. From what I can understand, the complications that lead to the serious cases are due to the immune system in the victims bodies overreacting to the virus. I assume that in time they may be able to work out why some people's bodies are reacting in that way and others are not and that could be important in terms of future testing/treatment/vaccine options.
