Lowestoft - re post on places to visit

I expect the negative comment was made because Lowestoft is in Suffolk, not Norfolk. I went there last August with the family and had one of the nicest beach (returning via the cliffs) walks I’ve had in this country. The area known as North Denes/Gunton Warren is completely unspoilt and free of any of the usual seaside paraphernalia. There is a big car park, which, even in the height of summer, had plenty of spaces. Although Lowestoft is undeniably run down as a town, if you’re able to get over that fact, there is much to recommend it. Visit the maritime museum in the gardens below the lighthouse; the staff in there were well-informed and friendly. If you want a big, commercialised sandy beach, seafront shops and cafes for the family, then look no further than Lowestoft’s South Beach.
