ambitious and talented youths or overseas players aren't going to want to sign for a relatively small, provincial club that is a dead end, or that fights tooth and nail to stop them from joining a bigger club.
Being seen as a viable stepping stone to the top clubs is a pretty good place for the club to position itself, even if it's a bit hard for fans to deal with constantly losing our best players.
