The problem with VAR is the long delays, not the actual decisions

None of the decisions that take ages add anything to the game to compensate for the negative effects of the delay, because those long decisions are all either:
1) stupid nitpicky cm level offsides that nobody would feel robbed by if they were ignored
2) borderline penalty calls etc that are so 50-50 there isn't a clear right/wrong, so loads of people are still going to be pissed off whatever your eventual decision.

The only good VAR decision is a quick one (spookily, thus an 'obvious' one to correct a clear error)

That's why I'm against refs using monitors - it adds to the unnecessary delay. If it's an obvious error it doesn't need him to, and if it isn't obvious then him going over there isn't still going to stop it being essentially a borderline toss up.
