It would be easy to implement a kind of margin of error element to allow for the limitations of the technology, as you say like umpire’s call. Benefit to the attacking team unless clearly ahead, within whatever the agreed jerkin I’d error is (like Hawkeye in cricket with umpire’s call. Most people would accept that and it would allow for insanely marginal calls like today’s to be given as goals (which they usually would be without VAR)
