Press news in....

We are in position at the Lotus Training Centre for Daniel Farke's pre-Watford press conference. Updates to follow shortly.

--------------------------------------------------------------

DF: In general our injury situation is much better than the one we had to face a few weeks ago. Trybull and Hernandez have made a few spotted appearances whilst working up their fitness, so they're coming back to full fitness. There are some good signs on our centre-back situation, Zimmermann is looking good in smaller parts of training.

DF: The results are not nice! It's difficult to face different moods during the season. Right now is a tough place to be in with moods and confidence of players, but we're looking much better. We're the underdog in every game, so we cannot expect to win each match.

DF: We have to make sure the quality of the decision's of the referee are top-class, nearly each and every decision in football is not black or white. In some cases there might be 90% certainty on a decision, but that 10% still matters. There have been some overruling situations from VAR, some decisions have been embarassing. We need to protect the referee on the pitch a bit more.

DF: My feeling is we need a clear rule with VAR, it's imporant we need to emphasise it's use is for a clear and obvious situation. We won't have a game where all the decisions are 100% right, so we accept this, but my recommendation would be to give it a clear ruling.

DF: It's difficult for the supporters to follow our situation, as it is for us, but it is so important that we stick together in these games. I'm not jealous of Watford's spending situation, because they are a permanent Premier League team, but it would be nice to be able to spend £30 million on a player in the Summer!

DF: It's always good to win home games, we really need to be successful tomorrow. It's the Premier League, there's no 'easy' game. Even tomorrow we are probably seen at having less than a 50% chance of winning the game, but we need to keep fighting and get as many wins as we can against the bigger clubs to survive in the Premier League.

DF: You always have to improve the smaller details, and those tough times will come but I think we have prepared well and can get through them.

DF: It's important to Teemu [Pukki] works hard, he is an experienced striker, he knows these times of struggling to score will come, but he knows we all trust him to get those goals flowing again.

DF: You could see in the last few games, conceding a few too many goals, even attacking players have tried their hardest to get back and help defend. The player's have to concentrate really hard on passing, even the easy passes. We noticed this against Man United. We need to have more physicality but it's a fine balance between that and sticking to our game. It's normal for young player's to struggle with confidence, but a result would help.

DF: I'm really looking forward to having my centre-backs return from injury, when you're solid at the back it's the best foundation to play good football further up the pitch. Getting our centre-backs in the team will help us go back to our fluent football.

DF: There probably is more pressure on Watford than us, they're in a worse position than us and it's not easy they're meant to be an experienced Premier League team. It's a game where both teams are just focusing on being the better side, I don't think the pressure will get to an experienced side like Watford.

DF: Deeney is a very important player for Watford, so we need to find solutions to deal with that. I wasn't sitting in my office praying he is still not fit to play, you have to prepare for the hardest game possible and hopefully the result will come.

DF: We're not proud of not being able to spend all these millions like the other Premier League clubs, quite the opposite. But we have to deal with that and take the right measures, like developing our academy and keep going with what we have. Hopefully one day we can become a prominent financial club but until then we need to work for that.

DF: I think it's important as a coach to face reality, you can't make jokes and have fun, you've got to address the elephant in the room to help them regain confidence. I don't punish my players, it's about helping them improve and believe in themselves.
