Have someone close who has been through the full range
of drugs and alcohol over the last 20 years. Started on skunk as a teenager so became paranoid and ended up on the anti-psychotic drugs. used to have witches in his cupboards and spiders under his skin etc etc. One of his mates couldn't talk to me as I was a lizard alien come to take over the world.
On the long journey through coke, heroin and back to methadone there's not much he hasn't done and put us through hell and back. Now he's recovering and just on the anti-psychotics, providing he takes them he remains stable. When he has the occasional night of drinking (normally when his benefits are paid as he cannot manage money) then he forgets to take them and so we have to judge via daily calls and regular visits as to what his mental health is....and get the drugs down his throat if we're suspicious. without us he's have died years ago so understand how people with no family are lost.
On heroin he obviously lost weight and was stick thin. When he came off it the weight piled on and he went the other way (bit of a lump). Now, with just the anti-psycs he can regulate his weight providing he keeps of the alcohol (he drinks beer not spirits).
So, yes you can lose weight but would advise exercise not only for the regulation of weight but for the mental side. get those happy drugs going in the brain and the world can be a much better place.
Good luck and like Proth says keep talking don't bottle it up and go into yourself because then the mind will play games as I'm sure you're fully aware.
I do also remember (as will other long time posters) of the bad times Dubs went through many years ago where he would come on here late at night. He seems a great well adjusted guy these days (even though I'm aware the route cause may never go fully away) for which I admire him.
