following on from best players what are the best dozen goals ?
My choice of best goals, based on combination of individual skill, team work, opponent, significance. I know I will have missed a lot of goals that deserve to be included but here are mine. In no particular order
Justin Fashanu – Liverpool, the build up, the flick and shot against the best defence and keeper in Europe
Nathan Redmond. Middlesborough, best ever team goal? How many touches 23? And sealed the promotion win
Simeone Jackson, Derby, the least best skillfully, it bounced off his knee? but the importance of that goal meant we knew then we were certain to go up, the crowd reaction and Neil Adams commentary “ you beauty you absolute beauty” was just superb.
Mark Robins, Arsenal, off the bench, 2 -0 down. Ran onto a through ball and chipped Seaman from 30 yards, won the game 2-4
Bradley Johnson, Ipswich, included just because of how hard he hit it
Darren Huckerby v Birmingham, ran pas virtually the whole team to score
Leon Mackenzie, Man United, showed how quick play can result in goals, Safri wins ball, to Hucks cross to Mckenzie and in.
Teemu Pukki, volley against Newcastle, just brilliant.
Jeremey Goss, Munich, Fantastic volley, “ the keeper just admired it” was the commentary I think
Jeremy Goss, Leeds, excellent build, up, fabulous cross from Fox and that volley as superb
Grant Holt, v Liverpool, bullied the ball in for a cross against two defenders and the keeper.
Todd Cantwell, Man City, not a spectacular finish compared to some goals but the passing and movement to take apart a team, worth what £400m, and for Todd to get on the end of the pass from Pukki was just brilliant.
and apologies to Tetty, Rosario, Hoohalan, Crook, Towensed, Phil Boyer, Peters, Eadie, Bellamy and may many others.
