Just got back.......Ipswich Sound City (Town?)

First event of this kind in Ipswich and I must say very well organised and a bargain at just £15, hopefully now a regular feature but can only assume this was a massive financial loss for the organisers if not council funded somehow.

Though living in Bury we have no reason to go into Ipswich apart from away games so didn't really know what to expect. Things started well when we found the Arcade Tavern, hosting a fantastic range of beers, well worth a return trip.

Onto the bands, got to see, Peaness, Plastic Mermaids, Bessie Turner, W. H Lung, Murder Capital, Dingus Khan and Snapped Ankles....all excellent.

The Manor Ballroom is a good little venue but rubbish beers (Marstons creamflow anyone? no thought not) and not very good having real glasses in the mosh pit, could have been a H & S issue there.

The Corn Exchange lovely venue not unlike Cambridge but looking at the what's on posters has the same old s**t every week as with Cambridge and the Apex in Bury, ABBA tribute bands, An evening with Pam Ayres and the Lady Boys of Bangkok, not very inspiring.

So for £15 7 bands not a bad evening, hopefully this might kick start an Ipswich scene to match those of Bury, Cambridge and Norwich, the only negatives were as what seems to be getting worse at gigs now is people bloody talking through the set, why, I just don't get it....sorry are the band spoiling your conversation? I have no interest in Julies holiday pictures on facebook, shut the fcuk up! oh and singing football songs at gigs is not the done thing, I've been to 100's of gigs in Norwich and I can't remember an instance of football chants, it's just not done....well unless it's a Cockney Rejects gig I suppose!

Next up, HMLTD, Pigsx7 and Wild Paths......I need music to take my mind off the footy!!
