EFL Trophy is
the Associate Members' Cup / Freight Rover Trophy / Sherpa Van Trophy / Leyland DAF Cup / Autoglass Trophy / Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy / LDV Vans Trophy / Johnstone's Paint Trophy / Checkatrade Trophy and now Leasing.com Trophy. The competition was originally for clubs from the bottom two tiers of the Football League, but now with invited Academy sides.
Norwich have only been fully eligible for this competition once (2009-10), but the Academy has twice received entry through invitation.
EFL Cup is the Football League Cup / Milk Cup / Littlewoods Cup / Rumbelows Cup / Coca Cola Cup / Worthingtons Cup / Carling Cup and now Carabao Cup. Entry is for all Football League clubs but, as late as 1970, some big clubs (e.g. Everton) chose to sit it out.
The competition was originally designed to utilise floodlights by offering regular midweek fixtures.
Brom probably knew.
