That’s basically his point, isn’t it? The ‘biggest’ games get the most highly rated refs - so games for teams like us generally get the less highly rated, or at least experienced, refs. (Obviously still premier league refs, but the lower end of the scale amongst them, nonetheless.)
Not saying whether it’s right or wrong, but presumably it does mean there’s more likely to be refereeing mistakes in our games than in, say, Liverpool’s.
