On a rewatch of the Chelsea second half. Some points.
(Which may or may not be controversial)
1. We defended pretty well under pressure. Kept shape, stayed tight and fought hard. The whole “unchallenged” line doesn’t wash with me - watch the game and see the challenges and organisation. Hanley is the weakest link, but not by much, and he works very hard.
2. For whatever reason the midfield was the part of the team which didn’t quite click. Passes not quite right, moves almost working.
3. Chris Sutton is a dick as a commentator. Despite Peter Walton’s quite clear and measured explanations on the ref’s and VAR’s decisions he keeps droning on as if it’s a certainty he’s in the right. It was a foul on Krul, he had both hands on the ball. Godfrey’s “stamp” was clearly an accident, Cantwell didn’t dive twice and Stiepermann didn’t kick Azpilicueta deliberately as he seemed to insist. “So you’re allowed to stamp now?”
Twat.
Anyway.
