Just woke up after getting back from the game.

Not being totally au fait with Atalanta’s squad I don’t know if they started with their first team or not but I thought the first hour we played well and if Pukki’s finishing had been up to its usual standard we could have been two or three up. They didn’t have a threat until we gave them a goal - what the f**k was going on there I have no idea. As for defensive midfielder, Trybull was at times excellent. Anyway, 1-1 at half time wasn’t unfair at all. Cantwell had played well, Buendía had shown some excellent touches and Leitner looked very competent as usual.

I missed the first couple of minutes of the second half so I didn’t see the Atalanta subs but they certainly changed quite a bit. Even so, Pukki could, probably should, have scored straight away. As it went on and we made more and more changes, Atalanta basically controlled every aspect of the game and even though we had a few bursts they were able to pick us off fairly easily. The striker they brought on looked a proper menace (91) and the left footed guy on set pieces as well.

Anyway, onwards. They looked a very good team at times and it will be interesting to see how they do in the Champions’ League. It might not be a bad thing to get a little kick up the arse and it was good to see Vrancic etc fit again. As for the new guys, Heise isn’t quite up to speed yet by the looks of it, Byram looked ok if not quite as dynamic as Aarons, and Fährmann was mostly ok but occasionally a bit hesitant with the kicking.
