But it was great marketing. Last time we were in the Premier League most tickets did go on general sale, so this really feels like people buying membership FOMO style. And although tickets are cheaper, not that cheap if you’re travelling a long distance - that hasn’t changed.
There were plenty of opportunities to watch us away last season, when we were riding high so an attractive proposition, and away allocations didn’t sell out (with the odd exception). In the end I think the main driver from the fan’s perspective isn’t the diehard away fans but the home season ticket holders who knew they had a good chance if they did fancy an away trip, even if they hadn’t done it last season. I reckon those are making up the bulk of that 6,000. Which means there will be a rush for some, but still don’t think all will apply for every game. (Unless they’re hoping to sell on...)
