You won't see Madders getting in the box on the end of crosses. The official reason is that Alli suits England's preferred style of play more. You don't just pick the 11 best English players, regardless of position or style. That's how you end up with things like the Lampard/Gerrard fiasco where you are under pressure to play them both because they are clearly among the best English players available, but in practice they can't actually play together...
