But the actual match now just serves to blight the rest of my weekend.
I drove up on Saturday with no huge expectation. Yet still I get this boyish excitement when I see the odd city scarf hanging out of a car window on the M25. This increases as you start to move up the M11, more scarves, more people driving wearing city shirts. This weekend I drove past the ground on the way to the hotel, that still gives me the biggest tingle of all.
And week on week, we get served up the same negative s**te. I've had enough.
