It’s not sport, it’s society

Sport has solved it, in that very single structure within the sport would support an openly gay player to the max - from the FA downwards. There would be every conceivable kind of backing.

The fear is the crowd behaviour. Given that we still (STILL 🤬) get monkey noises at black players, it’s inevitable that there would be homophobic abuse to gay players.

That’s not the fault of sport, it’s the fault of society
