Memberships...

As a season ticket holder leaving who is leaving for uni next year, I'm having to give up my ticket next season as my student loan won't support travel costs back home every fortnight as well as fees and bevie. However, as I'd be well placed for quite a few away games (if I get my 1st choice uni), I was wondering about memberships and whether they really help getting away ticks, or whether it's just how many stubs you have?
