Worthington/McCarthy record
McCarthy took over towards the end of the 2003/04 season when they were bottom of the Premier league and destined for relegation in the lowest points total ever recorded.
However the following season ( with a team much less equipped for promotion than Norwich when we came down) he got them to third place in the table and lost the play off final to Crystal Palace. If Worthless in this season was mirroring Mccarthy`s achievements in our first season back would we be calling for his head ?-" I dont think so".
In his second full season in charge Sunderland walked away with the Championship.
McCarthy was also a successful international manager with the Republic of Ireland.
Why then is therefore so much opposition on this Board to his appointment as NCFC manager? Worthless or Mccarthy for the rest of the season . No contest in my view.
