I don't buy into 'longevity' anyway, because
1. The longest serving managers are there for one reason and one reason alone, they're good managers.
2. Does it mean that if we'd kept Bryan Hamilton we'd be top of the Prem. now?
3. When Roberts and Mackay were shown the door we were told 'there's no place for sentimentality in football'. Obviously this excludes our current manager.
4. Good managers have blips and turn it around, Ferguson, Curbishley for example. Good managers don't spiral out of control.
5. IMHO sports coaches need replacing on a fairly regular basis to bring in new ideas and wipe the slate clean with the players. Retaining a Director of Football is one thing but the manager is different.
