I think for the following reasons:
1) Godfrey has more pace
2) Godfrey has better passing ability
3) This season, Godfrey has generally looked more composed at CB than Hanley has
4) If Hanley starts, he has to make him Captain. Perhaps he prefers Zimm as captain and doesn't want to risk upsetting the changing room by changing the captaincy mid-season.
Points 1) and 3) combined to get Hanley a red card the last time he played by the way.
Note that I do not mean to knock Hanley's ability as we know he is a very capable CB - indeed a very good one at this level - but more a nod to how well Godfrey has developed this year!
