would be a great idea. Unfortunately, people generally can't be bothered with information because they have too much going on in their lives, and anyway "information" is a slippery word. Referendums are disastrous, and the more complex the subject, the more disastrous they are. Boaty McBoatface - that was one that worked, but that got overturned.
