I think that article is harsh and a bit disingenuous

He may be 'Newcastle's most expensive signing in three years', but £12m is absolute nothing nowdays for an attacking Premier League player.

The fact he has not become a world beater, or even that he's struggling to get in the team doesn't make him a colossal flop. £12m is peanuts these days, particularly for a young player where you're buying long term potential as much as immediate impact.
