Context wise its much closer to his times at Stoke or Blackburn.

Can't see him turning that squad into contenders, but reckon he will make them tidier. Not sure that there's any of the old guard (at any of his previous clubs) that he'd look to poach.

One of the real successes he had here was piecing together the right people for the team he was looking to build, but the lynch pins (Wes, Holt,) were in place before he got here.

I think it's an incredibly tough ask, particularly if the fans (or a significant section of them) are dubious/impatient.

Really, it's a pity for him that he didn't get either of Brendan Roger's gigs. I think he would have been superb for Celtic or Liverpool at those times.
