I sometimes think critics forget this.
There's just no excuse for some of the dialogue George Lucas wrote, mind you. So far the new trilogy is better than the prequel trilogy but neither is as good as the original trilogy, for me; but that's probably a function of when I first saw each.
It's not High Art and it seems to do OK at the box office so I'm not sure how motivated Disney are going to be to change the formula they've settled on.
