I am sure he could have been played in the first team much sooner than he actually was. If you think of all the players who subsequently became world-class stars their managers gave them first team opportunities at the age of 16 or 17. I'm going back a bit but I am thinking of guys like Trevor Francis, George Best and more recently, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Sessegnon for example. I am sure there are many others whose names escape me.
