seemingly announced our belief that it might make a difference.

If you just do it and don't mention why, it becomes a strange thing which teams laugh about when they get to the ground and it could be one of those little things to throw off focus. Players around the league will talk to each other but they are not sure of what the point of it is.

When we come out and say it gives us an edge. That's the embarrassing thing. Right now, the joke is on us for "believing in some mumbo jumbo", and the joke will be on us every time we do not win at home.

By the way I doubt it only cost 100 quid. Maybe 100 quid in paint. More likely 3000 quid in fees to the "Colour Psychologist" for coming up with the idea.
