Thanks for the link, always useful to place reality against fantasy

Rant follows

Its a sad indictment of our times that often reaction, opinion and feelings are confused with actual facts. It’s like, having to think about and check something out is too difficult. I get it can be tedious, and it isn’t helped when it’s legitimised and the pot stirred by tabloids, websites and social media. It’s got to the stage now where it’s OK to rubbish facts and be proud of knee jerk reactions (cf Travels in Trumpland).... alt-right often seems to mean alt-reality, and the likes of Boris Johnson & Jacob Rees Mogg do nobody any favours when from their incredibly privileged position they present themselves as ‘telling it how it is’ & the friend of the ordinary working person. In reality the only thing they are friends to is their own bank balance, and ensuring nothing interferes with it......It’s not like any of this is news. Couldn’t recommend enough reading The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist by Robert Tressell - although based more than 100 years ago there are some eerily poinignat passages describing this process, the role of selective patriotism and the press.

Anyway, back to the football season - have to say I’m feeling strangely optimistic :-)
