Press news in pt2, Farke....
DF: I'm pleased with the performances this week in training. I believe in hard work and all I can say is that we are well prepared. But we need to bring it on the pitch tomorrow.
DF: The injury situation is pretty good. Jamal has been back two days but Birmingham is too early for him.
Ivo was back earlier on in the week and Alex has been back for eight days. We've had many lads back on the pitch, only Mario and Matt are long-term injuries. It's a bit too early for Ivo and Jamal but everyone is okay. Jordan Rhodes will 100% travel with us.
DF: It's not been the easiest situation for Birmingham, they were unsure about whether they could play their new signing, Pedersen. But the difficult situation could create togetherness. If you can't bring signings in, the same group of players know how to play together and for the first game, it could help them.
DF: I really like Garry Monk. He's kind and a gentleman and I like him as a coach. But there will be two teams on the pitch wanting to win.
DF: It's always the same. Everyone is unsure going into the first game. It's always a special situation and maybe it helps to have the more experienced players on the pitch.
But you never know. It will be difficult to predict tomorrow.
DF: I am refreshed and motivated for the new season. As a coach, there are some tough decisions to make with there being 22/23 players available. I think for all of us it's important that the season starts and we're all looking forward to it.
DF: For the lads who aren't involved this weekend, they could play for the Under-23s on Monday.
DF: It's important for a coach to be open to learning and improving. It helps to have one-year of experience. Most players in the squad now, I know. That helps.
DF: Big compliments to Steve Stone and Stuart Webber that we were able to do our business early. The real stuff begins tomorrow. I'm pretty pleased with the situation.
DF: I'm full of respect for Russell and Nelson. They aren't in my thoughts for tomorrow but you never know, especially with Nelson. He's still a part of our squad.
DF: I'm impressed and pleased with several young lads.
Ben Godfrey has been outstanding. Max Aarons has been the biggest surprise of pre-season, I didn't expect his development to be so quick. Todd Cantwell has also been impressive. The first away game, when there is so much pressure, is maybe not the place for all of the young lads.
Not all of them will travel with us tomorrow but their time will come pretty soon.
