Any electricians out there
...during this heatwave, we have noticed a sound like rain. Normally, that would just be, well, rain but clearly there is barely a cloud in the sky. Only really noticed it in the quietness of night but now we have pinpointed the noise it is very noticeable.
The room in question has eaves on both sides. Within the eaves there is a door. The noise is clearly coming from within the eaves and when I open the door, all I can see is cables. These run to a couple of phone jacks, tv points and plug sockets within the bedroom. I honestly cannot see any pipes, yet I can hear what sounds like water.
Before I squeeze inside and risk my life on the thin boards to look over the edge, is there any quirk of the electrics that could be creating this noise?
My brain suggests it is a pipe somewhere but my eyes tell me there isn't one. There is a bathroom at the far end of the room but again, no visible pipes and the noise seems much closer than the bathroom (and running water in an unused bathroom would be a massive problem anyway)
Me is flummoxed

- Arcing? But if it's that loud I'd expect a smell. Or a fire. it's a weird one (n/m) (General Chat) - dennis moore, Jul 4, 13:13:27
- Or how about a stuck ballcock? Could be an overflow pipe near, but you'd see it outside. (n/m) (General Chat) - dennis moore, Jul 4, 13:20:06
