When it's just one referee making a subjective judgment you can put it down to be "the referee's a w**ker". When it's 2-3 referees forming a view via VAR, the subjectivity is still there, but it gets put down to "VAR is s**t".

It's the nature of football and the way the laws work. VAR will even things out, as with more eyes you're more likely to catch things, and with more viewpoints you average out the subjectivity a little bit so you're more likely to get it 'right' in the eyes of the majority.

But refereeing decisions are always going to remain subjective, VAR or not.

Comes back to my point yesterday that people expect it to be perfect when it can't possibly be. It's not about perfection, it's about progression.

Does VAR progress things, and make it more *likely* that the refs will get things right? In my view yes.

It's just a tool, or decision making aid, much like snicko or hotspot.
