I think Root was guilty of looking too far ahead there. Big believer in always play the

conditions and on that morning at Lords its was obvious it was going to move about, just as I would say is the case on a first day at Headingly when its cloudy!

The Lords decision was particularly strange given the fragility of our batting in Aus and NZ. If we had 4 or 5 batsmen bang in form and a demon spinner in the squad it may have been a bit different.
