A post from the Pink Un really cemented it in my mind though. The point was made that the self funding model is going to rely heavily on being able to sell your better players each year to sustain enough income to pay Championship wages. So essentially a key fundamental of your business plan is HOPING your best players don't get injured. This is topical because of Maddison going down today and of course is hindsight. But next year if Murphy and Jamaal are the cash cows that need to move on do you start wrapping them in cotton wool with a dozen games left and no chance of promotion or relegation? Would the fans accept not seeing the better players for a quarter of the season so they could be cashed in to meet next season's payroll? People will say injuries are part of the game but to a financially poor Norwich they can be much more devastating than to teams with deeper wallets.
