Then a mix of comments...
I quite liked this one:
"Yeah but....
We don’t want to be “little old Norwich” anymore. Apart from like, when an employee points out that he’s not an actual Norwich fan; why is he here then? We should never have appointed a ‘best in class’ option ahead of a ‘best available Norwich fan that’s got at least 25 away stubs and a Chase Out mug’.
Anyway. Boooo. I wish we were Wolves."
"And also mentioned that the Forest game was an improvement. I was at that game and my lads were so bored that there was no action they were happy to leave before the end! The most action seen in that game was the 15 minute queue for the toilets at half time lol!"
"Wether he supports City is irrelevant, BUT to tell me I should go and watch another club just because I don’t enjoy watching tippy tappy football is just not on!
You have come to his defence a couple of times since his loose tongue let him down,
But the fact is he was bang out of order,
I have supported my club for more than 60 years and if he can’t see that it is offensive to even suggest that we should go watch another club then he is in the wrong job.
He needs to offer an unconditional apology if he wants to attempt to heal the rift he has caused."
"Having listened to the interview I agree with your interpretation and reading between the lines I assumed he only mentioned the Burton game as it was so different to the Bolton match. The only thing is, that go watch someone else was a loaded comment and I get the feeling he was looking to have a dig and did it more or less under his breath, it possibly betrays a lot of his thoughts about those of us who pay money to his employer. He has many good points but that edge will cause problems."
" If the internet is not the place for such ‘reasonable thoughts’
Then why write them on the internet?
Such ‘snobbery’ def isn’t the right place to utter such dribble!
Honestly where should these thoughts be deliverer and who are the right people to be honoured to hear them?"
"Whilst you have written a good report on the interview, it is slightly biased to defending Webber. I do agree that some fans are making an issue where there shouldn’t be one regarding who he supports. That said, in his position he should probably think a little more about what he says as the fans are the backbone of the club. I also agree that Bolton at home was one of our better displays but to suggest that the Forest & Fulham games were exciting is really stretching things. The Forest game showed our many deficiencies and was NOT entertaining. The Fulham game was riddled with poor decision making and neither team played well. Even a Fulham fan at the game said they were poor and we we woeful. It’s the comments regarding the quality of the football that I feel has annoyed most fans. If Webber thinks that those games were entertainment then I fear the worst for next season!"
" I can stand Mr Webber being an arrogant so and so, lots of winners are. However failure to produce and things can only finish one way, even with the most forgiving board of directors in English football"
"Getting someone else to explain his dirty work doesn't wash with many! Yes you are entitled your opinion, mine is you have made a bad situation worse! Mr Webber scored an own goal. He needs to comment on this, not get his Delia side kick to defend him!"
"Debra, can I ask what makes you think next season will be any different? The manager has had 40+ games to get his team together to 1) defend properly. 2) to actually create goal scoring chances by moving the football forward quickly and decisively and 3) to score goals! His tactics are absolutely awful. I do not class myself as a small section of fans, but in my 62 years of watching Norwich City under many many managers and coaches, several different owners and board members, this is actually the worst I can remember. We have NO identity or credibility amongst our footballing peers whatsoever."
" don't care what team he supports but he said I'm not a Norwich city fan ....the t**t .....why didn't he just say I wasn't a Norwich city fan then ....why ? well why is because his true self came out and that is why ."
"You are talking like a journalist !!! we are talking like true fans and do not want to be told by some Idiot who is supposed to represent our club that if we do not like things as they are go and support another team IDIOT"
"Journalist training you may have Mick and as I have just seen it put in the post before “Throw away comment” well should a professional businessman be using throw away comments in an interview trying to justify why we should be happy with the poor and boring examples we have had to pay to watch."
"His truth came out"
"Why are we in a transitional period because the board keep making the same mistake by appointing unknown and unproven managers time after time"
" presume Webber asked you to defend with your comments as he meant what he said on the radio He is only here for the money then he will be like Moxey and McNally and clear off"
"We will be here long after Webber has gone this is our club, and his remarks were not acceptable. We have passion, we care, and most of all we have ambition for our club. What we are seeing is poor and backward step.I have to ask myself do the board have the same ambition or are they happy to just muddle along. As I say this is our club and he should think before he opens his mouth"
"Mick, I appreciate you're trying to address the short term anger and frustration that's being shown right now, but the whole narrative of this season has been a disaster from start to finish so far mostly. Tactics and recruiting has been less than 5 out of 10 all season. Off the pitch, Webber and co have calmed things but anyone who has watched the games in whatever format over the season could argue this brand of football will relegate us to permanent also rans.
Poor interview from Webber.
Poor management from Farke all season.
Must do better!"
"Webber should not have said it and his tone was not professional either, especially for a man with his experience. It cannot be spun. More interesting is Archant appear to have had a blackout on the story. It has not featured anywhere. Funny that."
So, in conclusion, a barrel of laughs.
