There was a fair bit of reaction at the time but....

firstly Atherton and that England team were not such a bunch of complete a***holes that everyone revelled in their downfall and secondly and more crucially he did not take a piece of sandpaper onto the pitch as part of a premeditated plan hatched with several others.
