We made it very clear we were risk adverse and were under the impression that with this there would be minimal gain compared to some possibly higher risk options but no loss. Had we been made aware that there was a chance to lose some of the money we would not have taken the bond out. We saw it, wrongly now it seems, as a risk free way of regularly savings for children's future.
