My recently retired colleague and his family were on that plane. I will never forget the moment, out in the sun at another colleague's leaving party, when somebody came over and showed us the ID card tweeted by on of those on the crash site, and it was Peter's wife. We'd only had a drink with him the week before. Then once it had been confirmed I had to call everybody in the team to let them know. One of the toughest days in my life.

I have to say I felt the Dutch were rather abandoned on that issue. Still, I think it was more a case of lack of control than intended, but we will never know.
