Yeah indeed. But imagine that bloke who's been failing his targets for a while, was hoping

for a pay rise as he was doing so well before, but is now starting to feel as though he is more likely to be made redundant in the upcoming cost saving reorganisation than rewarded. He doesn't feel as appreciated anymore at work. It snows. He gets snowed in, and then manager sends an email around the whole department, cc'ing all the management, taking the piss out of him for not coming in. Oh and for good measure, let's cc his family, friends and kids too.

Feels different then eh? At least it would for 1 in 10 people in that situation. Part of the job of being a manager is understanding whether or not he is one of those 1 in 10.
