Match report for XXL

Went to Maidstone V barrow today - met Grant Holt who kindly let me take a selfie with him and signed my Norwich shirt. I prob should have wished him luck, but he was playing against my hometown side ;) Jamal Loza was lining up for Maidstone.

Holt played steadily if unspectacular. Held the ball up well and brought others into play. Nice cushioned header for the assist of the only goal of the game. He has lost the half of yard of pace he never had and seemed to be very frustrated at times (what f**king kind of throw in was that? was muttered). Was talking to his younger team mates throughout directing them through the game.

Loza was playing on the right wing for the Stones. Few moments of skill but ultimately did not really impose himself on the game. Vanorama league is probably his level based on today.

The crowd made a good noise and the hearty 89 Barrow fans making the trip to Kent were in good voice at the end. I'm sure I'll go watch some more lower level football based on today.

2nd part of my football double header tomorrow when I'll be driving up to the fine City.
