That second half was a masterclass in total control of a game,
I’ve never seen us ever have the discipline and patience like that before. The way we just stroked the ball around waiting for Boro to open up instead of trying to force the issue. We knew that they had to come at us but they didn’t want to and just sat back. Which meant that all we had to do was keep the ball, be patient and wait for them to make a mistake.
Look at where we are now compared to what would have happened at the start of the season in that same game. Night and day difference. And sure, the passion merchants and the modern football fans among our support will complain that it’s boring football which it is at times when you have an opposition that has no will to get forward but commanding the game and waiting to take our opportunity like that is pretty impressive.
Hopefully our forward line be a bit more clinical though when we do get those openings. It probably should have been 3-0 really.
