For those frustrated by our financial position - imagine this....
Fortuna Sittard almost went bankrupt in the early 2000s. I remember this as my then girlfriend was from near there and her brother was a massive Fortuna fan. At one point, they managed to survive only because two of their fans won the national lottery and donated the entire prize to the club.
In those days they finished rock bottom of the Dutch 2nd division (lowest professional division) three times in succession yet just managed to survive in the league. They had their license revoked by the league, appealed and had it re-instated.
Financially they still make us look like Man City. Yet they are currently in the top 3 of the Dutch 2nd level.
It's so bad for them that opposition fans have remarked that they don't know where they got the money for the Cantwell LOAN, and that it will bankrupt them if they don't get promoted.
Fucking hell. THAT is when you're skint as a football club....
