Although we do need strikers

Because just having one isn’t enough, I think our inability to score goals actually lies in midfield.

It’s the lack of players arriving in the box, or getting ahead of Oliviera that is killing us.

We might find a striker that has a better conversion rate than Oliviera, or one that gets into better positions more often, but that’s not going to completely transform how many goals we score. That will rely on midfield personnel doing a bit more attacking.

Maybe Farke thinks we don’t have the right blend of midfielders at the moment. It’s not a stretch to think, Maddison aside, he is disappointed with the output of the rest. Murphy and Watkins, wildschut, none have really done much. Vrancic, Reed, tettey and trybull all sit deep.

So yes, we need strikers, but so long as we’re getting some, additional midfielders to offer us something different would be good too. Other than Maddison, our midfield lacks quality in the attacking third. Partly Farke’s style though I think.
