The Worthington debate
has deteriorated now because people are unable to divorce their emotions from their reason.
Of course we ALL want City to win as many games as possible and to play at as high a level as possible. That goes without saying.
But, based on years (40 in my case) of experience watching City, some of us feel that the nature of the football being played this season and indeed for much of the last 5 years does not reach the standard we seek.
It hasn't been great for much of the last 40 years either. There have been some very dark times. All we are saying is that when it's not good enough those with the power should be brave enough to make a change in the hope (of course you can never be certain) that things can be improved.
Personally, with Brentford being knocked out of the Cup today I'd go for Martin Allen. Bet you he joins somebody soon and we miss out. Now there's a CHARACTER and as I've posted before that's what I think we need because the last 2 years have been, I feel, rather dull. Worthington seems a nice enough chap but dull.
So there's no need to be abusive whichever side of the debate you're on. And if we all stay rational and look only at facts and performances (especially AWAY) then I am confident that Worthington's days are numbered; it's the fact that emotion not reason is being followed that he is still manager when it's plain for all to see that the performances of his team, the scouting set-up (that was a good one in his column this week 'We do our homework' on signings..er, really? And did you do it on Jarrett, Hughes, Etuhu?), the productivity of the youth programme, decisions regarding letting good youngsters go (Crow scored again today) - basically the entire playing side of the club that he's been in charge of for 5 years, is failing. In most professions he'd have gone long before now!
