The self funding model and specifically donations to the academy from fans

What's the point? As fans we invest all this money on developing home grown talent and then when anyone half decent appears, they're sold after one middling season.

Can we even trust the board to reinvest this money in the playing squad or will it be the usual guff about cash flow overdrafts and debt repayments?
